Mohamed Bourouissa

Born in 1978 in Blida (AL), MB lives and works in Paris (FR). MB describes contemporary society implicitly, by its contours. With a critical take on the mass media image, the subjects of his photographs and videos are people left behind at the crossroads of integration and exclusion. Preceded by a long immersion phase, each of Mohamed Bourouissa’s projects builds a new enunciation situation.

Noubia ²⁰²⁵

This movie’s project tells the story of my aunt Noubia Meyer (August 1942 - October 2022), born in Blida, Algeria, elder of fifteen children.

After her death, I inherited all her audiovisual and photographic archives, ranging from movies, VHS cassettes, pictures to documents. This corpus is a dive into her intimacy. Portraying my aunt, it is already accepting her legacy and answering positively to her demand.

I now would like to direct a movie called NOUBIA, from her archives. I also would like to use artificial intelligence to reactivate and/or create memories from these archives, filling the gaps left by the missing pictures and compose a portait of Noubia, and her journey, from Algeria to Germany.
